• I use GoDaddy for several WP installations and I am not satisfied at all.

Many costumers complain that the sites are slow. I’ve tried everything – even methods like deactivating all plugins – neither the backend nor the frontend speed changed.

Now one of my sites http://www.lawoffice.at temporaly stops working at all every few klicks.

I am really thinking about changing the hoster as GoDaddy either apologizes or can’t see any problems at all whenever I call their hotline.

    Which one is recommandable?

I know little about linux / apache / php & similar stuff config – so I don’t want to / can’t care for that.
I’ve about ten low traffic small biz websites.
I need a UCC certificate as some of the websites use SSL.

    Thx for any advice.

  • What is the hosting account type? Linux 4GH?

Are you manually installing or using the installer @ GoDaddy?

Are you using a php5.ini file?

Use WP Super Cache and add expire rules in .htaccess…

What version of PHP are you running?

Have you created a phpinfo file? (and reviewed)

Also, a review of your site at Sucuri.net notes an empty site. Is it the correct url?

If you are going to run many sites, you should learn the best way to do so…

If you are looking for basic shared hosting there are a lot of options. IME Hawkhost is pretty good. I have been using them since Feb 2012 and so far they have been good to me. Site performance is fine, support is good and they will transfer your sites for you.

Keep in mind web hosting is heavily advertised so watch out for affiliate marketing disguised as reviews.

Yes, there is a site 🙂

Ok, just had good luck and reached a GoDaddy support employee who first sayed that the site works perfect but then had the genius idea to try it from a network that is outside GoDaddy: they have a broken proxy.

Seems that I’ve at least chances to get the most urgent issue solved. Nevertheless the service will most likely stay slow. So I am still curious for excellent wordpress hosters (I don’t mind paying a few bucks more or less – I simply want a fast server + an excellent hotline in case of troubles.)
