When I set the database on Fasthosts a site URL was created…my domain name.
also the log in URL for wordpress which was my domain name/wp_admin
I have a WordPress dashboard requiring a username and password to log in to
We can’t even start to help unless you can post the url of your site here.
salixpeopleandprocess.com
Ive just spoken with Fasthosts and they have set up the FTP access.
I am told I need to go into WordPress url
salixpeopleandprocess.com/wp_admin
from here I can see the WordPress dashboard and will be able to choose a template and work on the site. When I am ready to go live I need to rename the FTP index@html to salixpeopleandprocess.com (not sure where I will access index@html … but nowhere near that stage yet.
When you are ready to launch, you need to login to your site using FTP and delete the index.html file in the root folder of your domain.
OK – I think Im getting there
…/wp-admin (not underscore)
Have now got through to the WordPress dashboard.
Im taking it I can choose the theme from here, create the pages including using pictures on my PC hard drive? or do I still need to upload them to the HTdocs file?.
Then go into Fasthosts dashboard and rename the index@html page to my domainname page and what I have created will appear live.

Everything you need to do can be done via the WordPress interface. No other uploading is necessary.
Hi Esmi
When I go to visit my site on the WordPress Dashboard toolbar – I get the message re FTP have I uploaded already, if not build a site using
iWeb, Dreamweaver or Sitebuilder and I cant move beyond.
I want to build the site using the Smallbiz WordPress template.
I cant seem to move between WordPress, Fasthosts and the FTP “requirement” easily

By the way Im reading through WordPress First Steps and trying the link from there as it suggests.
