you too!…lol… well I hope somebody helps us! will be checking back soon S..O..S
Hi,
My only immediate, tentative suggestion would be to open wp-config.php in your favorite text editor and make sure that you have typed the database name, user name and passwords correctly.
If you were given this information from your host and it still isn’t working, maybe you could ask them whether you need to use a different entry for ‘localhost’ (it happens… though admittedly, I’ve never encountered it myself).

Grashopper: I can sign in, but that is it.
Sign in where? If there is no DB connection where do you sign in?
Put here (copy/paste) your wp-config.php file – or at least the portion that you’ve edited.
(where the password is put *****)
Ok TWAT, not like your name isn’t as trustworthy as your fix… I tried it and for some damn reason (maybe because I’m tired of trying) I decided that the encryption user name and password in wp-config.php was bugged and put my regular log-in and pw in there instead to find “Nothing” Zelch, Twatted!… lol… Don’t know what else to do know, I could go play a game online and wait!… sheesh, pathetic…
I decided that the encryption user name and password in wp-config.php
? hmm…
You need the database username and password for there, no encryption. Just plain typing.
I guess I do but I never assigned one. My Host did that for me, and than again I guess having so many php stuff in my database could of done it!… I don’t know… Cause now all my php enabled stuff won’t work, my calendar, my forum, the blog… sheeesh… I give up! Thanks for the help ne-wayz, “Cheers” 8(
Grasshopper:
I just posted this http://wordpress.org/support/topic/55743?replies=4 about 40 minutes ago. Are you hosted thru Yahoo?
If so, I think the server may be down.
I’ll check back tomorrow to confirm.
I’m also also at Yahoo
I guess you are right the server may be down (for about 8 hours now).
Did not expect this by using Yahoo, bad bad bad
How to contact Yahoo?
Hey, did you both allow Yahoo to install WP for you, or did you install it yourself? I ask because my site has been on Yahoo for a while, but when WP released 2.0 and started “partnering” with yahoo, I decided to use their install instead of my own.
BIG MISTAKE. Nothing ever worked right, so I finally uninstalled Yahoo’s installation and reinstalled WP 2.0 on my own (on the same server) and have not had any complaints since.
I am currently using Yahoo but am not having the same error you guys are getting. See for yourself: rulebrittaniea.org.
Log onto Yahoo Web Hosting and under your root directory find the file called wp-config. Inside this file you can see the password and user name Yahoo set up (assuming you did not do this yourself) for your MYSQL database.
Yahoo also has 24-hour telephone support. You can call them at 1-866-800-8092 (you REALLY have to search to find this info on their web site). You can also go through the “Help” section on Yahoo web hosting and fill out a help request form. Lastly, you can e-mail their php/mysql team at wh-php (at) yahoo-inc (dot) com. This is likely the fastest way to get help, as the telephone support will probably point toward this e-mail as well.
thanks brittanie, I try
It looks like Yahoo did a update some hours ago
b.t.w. I used the Yahoo install
@brittanie
do you mean wp-config.php, there is no wp-config in the root.
@moshu
wp-config.php is unchanged for 14 days now
there is no database username and password in there
I am having the same problem with my WP site at http://www.mythicaldude.net – hosted at Yahoo. The site was fine 4 or 5 hours ago and I didn’t change anything.
Yahoo customer service finally gave me the wh-php AT yahoo-inc.com address, but only after 3 calls (from Cambodia). The first person I talked to there – Linda – told me there was no problem on their end and that I should uninstall my blog. What crappy advice!
The last person I spoke with gave me the address and acknowledged that there is a probelm at Yahoo and that their PHP group is “working on it”.
So now I guess we just have to wait. So it goes.
Shoot, I honestly didn’t mean to twat you! I should have been more clear as to whose username and password to make sure was there – i.e. not yours! Rather, the database’s username and password, and, as moshu specified: not encrypted.
@ralph: No wp-config.php in the WordPress root directory? Where is your wp-config.php? And what does it contain, if not the name of the database and the username and password that you use to connect to it?
Kat, the Twat
my guess would be yahoo is starting to upgrade but had a glitch or two.
i think there’s a problem connecting to the mysql database because i cannot
1. login to phpmyadmin to administer the mysql database
2. create a new wordpress blog
3. access the current blogs
ugh!
tried sending mail but no response yet. maybe i’ll try that pgp guys in a while.
