Restricted Category Access

Are there plugins that allow access of entire categories to registered users only? For example:

Cat 1: Journal (subscribers only)
Cat 2: Announcements (public)
Cat 3: Miscellaneous (public)

Previously I used Private Categories 2 (http://gregelin.com/archives/?page_id=2) by Greg Elin to carry out the task, but I can’t seem to find an equivalent for WordPress 2. Anyone creating such a plugin anytime soon?
