Hi Justin,
I am trying to show the comment count on my blog page. At the moment you can only comment by going into the single post and scrolling down which makes it hard for people to find. Do you have a way to add the comment function somewhere to show it?

Have you reviewed the comments_popup_link() function? You will need to start customising your theme’s index.php file – ideally via a child theme.
