Resource problems on a shared server

    Due to ‘high loading issues’ on the server, my host (Hostgator) has had to intervene twice this month. In both cases they reported the problem script to be /wp-content/plugins/wordfence/wfscan.php

    The first time they took my entire multisite installation offline but the second time they just disabled wfscan.php.

    I don’t want to stop using Wordfence but I may have to if this continues. Is there anything I can do to lighten the load on the server?

    I’ve seen similar issues with my other clients sites. Sadly this is more of a hosting company issue and less a scripting issue.

    Bottom line here is that your host is allocating your accounts too little memory. Only real solution is moving to another host or upgrading your account at host to allow for more memory.

    Thanks for the replies.

    I notice that the latest version gets rid of wfscan.php. Will the latest version help with my resource problems at all?

    I consider very significant just the fact that the plugin generates 19 (!!!) additional database tables.
