Add a new php page

    I’m adding a new functional php page and I don’t want to use the argument url e.g wordpress.org/index.php?page=newpage but I want to use the permalink e.g wordpress.org/newpage. How do I go about doing that lets say I’ve added ‘viewpics.php’ in a new folder call ‘gallery/’?

    Is this a Page created by WP?
    I guess not, if it is in another folder. I assume the “gallery” folder is outside of WP.

    But what if I added viewpics.php at the root of wordpress? Will I be able to create a permalink for that page?
