• I think I may have stumbled across a bug that needs to be reported. I was trying to create a Page for my site and it would never publish correctly. The link would appear, but it would take me to a 404 error.

I figured out that it was not adding dashes or underscores to my slugs, but rather it was adding spaces (which would appear as the “%20” symbol in the address bar).

So, if I manually changed my slug for my Pages to a one word name or manually changed it to something with dashes or underscores, the Pages appear just fine.

However, they won’t automatically create the slugs correctly.

I am running WP 2.0 (which I just downloaded and set up yesterday). You can check out the site (which is still under development) at http://www.mirroruptonature.com

    Thanks!

  • I am not sure it’s a WP bug. I just tried (again) on a test install with a Page having 3-4 words in the title and the slug was created correctly: one-two-three-four-words.
I would suspect it is something server related, because it works properly on most of the installs worldwide.

What could the server issue be that would cause that? What should I look for to correct it? For now, I’ll just manually do it myself. I’m mostly going to have posts instead of Pages anyway, but it would be nice to fix it to not worry about it.

    Thanks!
