move from wordpress.com to .org with same domain

I’m trying to move a blog that is hosted on britamelissa.com with wordpress.com, to installing wordpress.org on it. But is there any way I can ‘move’ the blog without deleting everything before installing wordpress?
I’m guessing you can’t just install wordpress and the contents from .com will automaticaly transfer over, can I just use import/export and it will still work with the images and everything?

Hope someone understands what I am talking about here and can help! haha
