• I am slowly learning how to build a website – http://bmwtcnsw.org/club – a month or so ago I never had heard of WordPress. And as for html…

I need a very basic primer on how to place a query_posts or get_posts command into the left sidebar – title “Latest Classifieds”, category “classifieds” – I want to show the title, or part of, of the latest 5 posts in that category (much like the Recent Posts query).

From what I learn here I can make up further queries

    TIA

    Update:

I have tried using the Category Posts widget – all I get is a title and no content. I have tried using shortcodes [weaver_show_posts…], same result

I have tried using a different slug (“home” as against “classifieds” or “for-sale”) and I get an instant result. Now I may be onto something here – “classifieds” is a parent with no content; “for-sale” is under “classifieds”. Maybe the widget and shortcode will not detect a child category???

Or do I have to specify something extra in the [weaver_show_posts cats=??? …] ?

    So close, yet so far…

    TIA
