• I would like to know if there are any editors that anyone could recommend to play with wordpress layouts? Can you design them using programs like DW? I know the php things show up as tiny php images and don’t really show the true design, so I was wondering if anyone knew of anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • TopStyle Pro. Free trial, http://bradsoft.com/. You can make it more or less work in stuff like DW, but it’s not ideal.

how come i can’t get the preview of the page to come up on the topstyle area where it allows you to get the internet view? i see the php code but no output of the code….should i ask this in their forums? Probably…I’ll try there too, but if anyone knows here let me know. Thanks.

Ah…. I think I misunderstood what you want to do. If you want a local parse for php code, you’ll have to have a server installed on your own machine. You can do this with XAMPP from http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html.

Otherwise you just have to upload and view, tweak locally, upload and view, repeat ad infinitum ad nauseam. TSPro allows a far better and cleaner editing experience than DW, but neither one (nor any other html etc. editor AFAIK) will allow parsing of php without access to a local webserver.

(Now, if you’re just talking about viewing index.php as you would index.html, TSPro does that – but it still won’t parse the actual php….)
