Remove Author Bio on post

Hi, I need a little help. I just added a plugin that displays the author info and facebook and twitter etc in a clean looking box above the comment feild. The problem is that the box utilizes the author’s bio box on the User page. When the bio box is filled it thus fills the field on the built in bio box in the wordpress theme. I tried removing the php (please not I am not well versed in working with this stuff) using the instructions listed here http://wordpress.org/support/topic/disable-author-bio-on-posts?replies=6. Nothing happens with the field.

I use the Twenty-eleven theme so therefore the code listed in the example is under author.php instead of single.php. Does anyone who has a better idea of what they are doing know what might be going on or what I missed? And to specify… I checked everything out there are no plugins active that could be interfering.
