That does, which indicates that all the files uploaded in one large mass. The unzip went wrong.

Delete all the files from the server – except wp-config.php

Unzip WordPress again, but this time make sure the unziping maintains folder structure. You should end up with
    /wp-admin
    /wp-includes
    /wp-content
    /wp-images
    and then several files.
Upload those and go for it 🙂

So when I upload all the files in those folders: /wp-admin, /wp-includes, etc, the files from those folders should be uploaded into these separate folders?

I think I made a big mistake of uploading them all under one folder which was “blog” then.

Yup – when the zip unzips, it should put everything in the right place, and you then just upload the folder in your ftp progran. It should then put the files in correctly.

What ftp program are you using ?

    Ohhhhhh…
    /blog is fine !

Open the zip, it says wordpress
Open that, you’ll see the above.
    Load that into /blog

ftp program? man, i really don’t know. i thought i was supposed to upload them into the public_html folder in my domain account.

    0_o

    I’m very very lost.

yea I uploaded everything in the wordpress folder onto my site under a file named blog. Is that wrong?

Im using Cpanel by the way, if that helps.

I really need help, please help me.. at least let me know if I’m uploading my files properly??

What are you using to get the files from your computer to the website ?

The files inside the unzipped ‘wordpress’ folder get uploaded into /public_html/blog – so you’ve got that exactly right.

Well I upload using Cpanel. cause there’s only two ways right? either ftp or cpanel?

“There are two ways of getting files onto your site, and once there, changing them.
By using your cPanel, or whatever file manager is provided by your host.
By using a FTP client. This guide will show you how to use FileZilla.”

    from the tutorial..

I use FileZilla – it’s quick and stable.
I uploaded a site for someone yesterday using just their CPanel File Manager. It worked – it just took a lot longer.

Is everything in /blog now ?

    Thread Starter dummeow

    (@dummeow)

yes it is all under /blog =)
but.. how do i get it working?

    Thread Starter dummeow

    (@dummeow)

oh i think this might be the problem…. i saw that some .php files like wp-config.php ‘s uploaded but it says 0 k.

as in it’s NOT uploaded?? zero kilobytes?

Not necessarily – some files that are smaller than 1k could show up as 0k. I just checked and there is at least one file missing.

The easiest way is to use Filezilla:
    http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/FileZilla/
and using that is much faster and allows you to upload many files all at once. It also allows you to compare the sizes of files between what’s in the computer and what is on your site. How about giving it a go ?

alright i’ll try filezilla then. hope that fixes stuff and hope it’s not me being dumb and making other errors that’s causing this whole thing to not work.

    thanks!
