• Hey guys and gals,

I was wondering if one of you could assit me. I am currently working on revamping my website and I come across an issue. I have a separate blog section on my portfolio site. Thanks to Yoast’s SEO plugin I have been steadily improving my blogs visibility. I have made it a habit to add h2 and h3 tags into my headings of each blog post. The problem arrises in the preview that the blog post gives on the main page of the blog. It doesn’t format the headers in any way and instead groups them with the body paragraph. This makes it confusing to read and I am worried it will cause some users to navigate away. The blog is currently in maintenance mode and not visible. Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Clay

  • Howdy Clay,

I could help you much faster if there is some way you could make the blog visible and direct me to a page that shows the problem. Probably not too difficult to fix.

    Hey Paul,

Thanks for the fast reply. I went ahead and made the blog path visible. http://clayhowardsmith.com/category/blog/

    Hey Clay,

Shooting from the hip, here, but that page (a category listing page) seems to be showing an Excerpt of your page, rather than the page itself. When showing excerpts, by default, the HTML tags are stripped and you just get plain text.

One of many possible ways to fix this is using a plugin that allows fancier / marked-up excerpts:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-excerpt/

Now, if your theme is automatically generating the excerpt from the first (n) characters of your post, I’m not sure this plugin will help. But, it will take you like 2 minutes to test.

Let me know how it goes.
    Take care,
    Paul
