• I’m on Godaddy, developing a site/running a WordPress server. I’d like to block access to the site during development. WordPress, I have noted, has generated a .htaccess file on installation, no htpasswd file however. Surveying the Posts seem to indicate that the WP-htaccess is more related to permalinks setup.
Perhaps there is a misconception, nevertheless – how can I block public access to the site (from the Front page).

    Thanks!

  • There are plug-ins to do that sort of thing – search for “maintenance”.

You could look at the plugin: Logged in
Description: A plugin that allows you to close the entire site to non-logged in users.

Then again, this would only work if you didn’t have any users registered to your site.
