I want to include the Google analytics JS it goes on top of the </head> tag of the main page. What field of I modified in order to accomplish this.

If you do a search, you’ll find plugins announced here that will do all that.

open header.php and insert the code, after <head> and before </head> tag.

I think this will solve your problem. I too have added google analytic to my site. Takes a while though for validation.

Depending on the theme you may need to edit either header.php or index.php
