I am looking to change the background to a simple plain black background. I love the theme the way it is, but I need to make it fit better with my other ideas.

That theme says that it has custom background, so you should be able to change the colour pretty easily.

It changes fine, then the image covers it.

To edit this a little, it seems the background change does work as intended, it just still has the texture over it. It is the texture I need to remove

appearance -> editor, edit the style-default.css and comment out the background: url(‘ image part in the body { }
