    When I download a template, it provides PSD files of the website layout, do I change it via Photoshop to the layout I like and upload via FTP? Or do I change some other files for the layout?

    WordPress does not look at or need a PSD file.

    The PSD file is so you can have the resource there if you want to make graphical changes easier. If you make changes on the PSD you need to slice it into HTML/CSS.

    The files you would change is the index.php, header.php, style.css, function.php, ect. These are what WordPress uses.

    So I don’t change the PSD files, I only need to change index.php, header.php, style.css and function.php like changing the image URL and colours?
