Question about template

    Hi,

    I am new to WordPress and before I start I was wondering if someone can answer a basic question. I would like to build a very basic site – similar to the front page of wordpress.org, where I will have no menu on top, two pictures in the middle and text with links for other pages to the following pages. This will be implemented for each page. I would like on each picture to have arrows to switch pictures but keep the remaining of the page steady.

    I have a jpg that I made up for this as an example, but don’t think I can upload it here.

    Sorry,

    basically the question is whether I can do something like that using WordPress or the templates that are on the site will limit me to what I am trying to achieve

    You can do almost anything you want with WP. There are a huge variety of themes and they are almost all very customizable. Or you can create your own custom theme — pretty much the only limiting factor is your knowledge of php, html and CSS and/or time (or money if you opt to pay someone for custom work).
