Alternative to esc_textarea

    I am looking for an alternative to esc_textarea for Meta Boxes.

    The problem is to do with paragraphs that the esc_textarea removes(as far as I am aware) all HTML tags so it is very good for just a small piece of text but not for multiple paragraphs.

    Is there any alternative validation function I could use.
