So you want these available for you but not them, right? In that case, I would think by far the easiest thing to do would be simply deactivate them until YOU need them….

Well, since the post is parsed and then showed not formatted and stored in the database I don’t think this solution works.
*shrug* I’ve no use for markdown in the first place, so no clue what you could do else. Never ran across dokuwiki so REALLY don’t know about it.
Why do you need a formatting plugin anyway? The quicktags really provide all the functionality most posters need.

well, I don’t disagree with you, but since I write mostly plain text and I’ve found that using *TEXT* or ‘TEXT’ or _TEXT_ to make my text “highlighted”
I believe my choice would be to disable the “extras” if you’re concerned about your posters – do you really need the “highlighting”? Why not simply use CAPS, or the bold etc. tags available in the quicktags?
The less you have to agonize, the better….
nitio, if you’re using Markdown, make sure you have the latest version of PHP Markdown. On the PHP Markdown page you can read:
WordPress-Specific Settings
By default, the Markdown plugin applies to both posts and comments on your WordPress weblog. To deactivate one or the other, edit the $md_wp_posts or $md_wp_comments variable under the “WordPress settings header at the start of the “markdown.php file.
