We are considering using WordPress for a company website, but have little direct WordPress experience. The site is for a small architectural firm, so need home page, links to pages showing project thumbnails, with links to specific project photos and descriptions.
Is wordpress the right tool, or should we be looking at drupal, or joomla?
Any examples of wordpress used this way? thx.

  • Yes, WordPress can definitely be used for all that you describe. You might want to check out the showcase to get an idea of the possibilities.

WordPress will not be used as a blog for this site, is it the right software for the job?
Is there an online guide to setting up a website with WordPress, to give guidance on how to set up static homepages, link to other static pages that would be project pages etc.?

WordPress works just fine without using the blog functionality.

The Codex is the best place to start for user documentation.
