Hi. I am a graphic/web designer and I have created this site (www.flexography.org) using Dreamweaver. My co-workers who are not in the same physical location as me use Adobe Contribute to update the site and add/change content on a regular basis. Our workflow is just fine right now with me using Dreamweaver and them using Contribute.

What I am here to ask is multi-fold. First, can my site be executed with the same basic look as what you see, in WordPress? Second, my intent in converting the site to WP is to hopefully automate the press release and news stories portion of the site, so that once one of the Contribute users adds a news story or several, it can be a more streamlined process than what I am doing right now. I was thinking the blog-type environment of WP might be the better way to go, and also would be nice to automatically create that “Top Stories” that appears on our home page. Right now that is manually done each time new stories are added. Third, will the Contribute workflow still work for us once we transition to WordPress? Fourth, do I need to convert EVERY page of our site to WP, or just the ones that utilize the blogging style features?

Please forgive my ignorance, I’m not fully versed in WordPress right now and am teaching myself.

    Replies to your question #’s:
    1. Yes, all of it should be doable in WP — with some amount of customization of a theme — depends on what you (or someone else) wants to do.

    2. Yes, it would likely be more automated and less manual fussing around for you.

    3. No, you cannot use Contribute with WP. There ARE however, user roles and capabilities — which may work for what you want here (not clear exactly what you mean).

    4. All pages of your site that you want to have WP functionality and to work in an integrated way with the WP site, yes, must be redone in WP. See importing to WP for possible options for moving over content — though since yours looks like a static html site, that may be very limited… But do be aware that if you import or copy over any code (vs. plain text or images), it may mess with WP’s code and/or cause problems on the new site.

There is tons of good info in the Codex — so do some reading there in deciding your best strategy…
