    Hello everyone!

    I want to enable the subscription facilities in my website so that every time I add a new post, an email is sent to the user who has subscribed.

    1) Post Notification
    2) Mail Press
    3) Subscribe2

    But I failed to get even one of them working. I am not able to configure that wp-mail-smtp plugin either properly ( I saw in a few forums, it is necessary to have wp mail smtp plugin too)

    Please help me out with this.

    I am using free x10 hosting services now, and I might move to Expertrio soon. Does this have anything to do with the hosting settings?

  • @wordsofwacko,

    It’s almost certainly down to hosting restrictions.

    http://x10hosting.com/wiki/What_are_my_email_settings

    The page above notes that there are hourly / daily limitations on sending emails and also states that to use sendmail() (as the above plugins all do) you need to ensure that the ‘sending’ email address used actually exists in cPanel on the domain you are using.

    Okay, just help me configure MailPress or Subscribe2 from scratch, what do I do after installing the plugin?

    Could you please post the link?

    @wordsofwacko,

    Presuming you have set an email address up in cPanel, visit the WordPress administration area and go to User -> Add New. In here set up a new user account at administrator level using the email address from cPanel.

    Then go to Subscribe2 -> Settings. Near the top of the page where is says “Send Email From” select that same account name in the drop down list and make sure the option for “Restrict the number of recipients per email to” is set to 1. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click Submit.

    Then give it a try and see if it works.
