My server died, but I was lucky enough to have a backup of mysql data. I have everything setup like it was before (I took good notes), but for the life of me I cannot get WordPress to connect to mysql.

I have the config.php file set like it was before. I created the user and restore the datbase, made sure the user had the appropriate rights.

It’s just not wordpress either, my coppermine gallery won’t connect or other mysql apps. I made sure the port and name was the same as before.

Any help much appreciated! Does anybody know of tool that I can use to check logins or debugging so I can see what’s happen when my wordpress users tries to connect to mysql?

    Thanks –

Update – I download and install the Mysql query browser and I can login using my wordpress user and password directly to the tables just fine. UGH. So fustrating, but still can’t get wordpress to see it. Is it maybe an apache thing?

    I’m using MYSQL 4.1 version

I think I found my answer. WordPress didn’t give me the clue (no error reporting) but coppermine did.
