Spam Protection for WP 1.2?

    Hello, I have WP 1.2 installed and I am looking for a solution to block comment spam (CAPTCHA or something).

    I did many changes to the index.php and I am afraid of upgrading to a complete new version.

    Is it possible to include a spam-protection into the comment-system?

    You really should consider upgrading to version 1.5.2 as there are many bug fixes that will be beneficial to you.

    Additionally, once you upgrade you can run a combination of Bad Behaviour, Spam Karma 2, Referrer Karma and other spam fighting plugins to keep your blog free of spam.

    There is no need to fear the upgrade, many peoeple are running 1.5.2 (including me) for many months with nary a problem.

    THX for the info. I just upgraded to Wp 1.52, which was easily done. I just had to do minor manual work changing some lines.
    The guide from codex.wordpressorg about upgrading from 1.2 to 1.5 was very helpful.
