• I am abit of a newbie. So, i don’t know that much about computer programs or code etc. I use WordPress from my webhost. My query is, that i would like to do design my WordPress template in Dreamweaver.
My question is how can i transfer my WordPress files and documents and place them in Dreamweaver? I have googled searched but come up with no answer. I thought about WAMP but that mean’s i would have to reinstall WordPress. Anyone that know’s how this can be done i would appreciate if you could reply.

  • If you want to develop/test a theme on your local machine, you HAVE to use WAMP (or equivalent) — Dreamweaver does not function as a server environment.

You may be able to use Dreamweaver as a text editor — though be careful of any features that do anything beyond basic php, css and html coding. But to view the pages, you have to use WAMP (or equivalent).

BTW, it’s not a big deal to install WAMP and WP on your local machine.

Thanks WPyogi, for your reply. I thought i would need to have WAMP. But before i install and download WAMP on my local machine. How do i get my WordPress files and documents and place them inside of WAMP?? Again, i am new to this although it may sound simple to you it’s not simple for me.

You can copy all the WP files off the server using FTP.
