Executing Short Code in Excerpt Field (even a custom one)

I want to use the Excerpt field in posts and pages to display content that is rendered / accessed via short codes. Every attempt I have made has fallen short of executing the short code command. Instead it displays the syntax of the shortcode itself.

Can anyone assist with recommending a plugin (searched and couldn’t find one that specifically aided in this) or a tip / trick (tried all the ones I found in forum searches with no success) that will actually allow the shortcode to function via the excerpt in the area where I display the excerpt?
