Is there an option to allow playlists to work? I tried using the URL, but it just left a grey box on the thumbnail image and a blank screen on the video when opened.

Any suggestions and/or work arounds for this?

Yes that would be very practical if you consider the fact that you will just have to add an url in the playlist and it will automatically appear in your gallery.
