• Hello everyone,

I installed WP today, and almost everything went off without a hitch. No DB problems, setup went smoothly, and I thought I was all set. However, when I view my blog (www.tradeandtrack.com), it looks very “white”. I haven’t done anything with the site – haven’t changed any of the defaults, haven’t installed any plugins or script, I just setup the blog and this is how it looks. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Oh, I’m using 1.5.2, so I’m using the latest version. Also, I’ve installed WP before on the same host I’m using for this one, and its working fine currently.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Barry

  • Check the permissions of your images and image folders for the theme. Increase them 755 – 766 – 777 and see what happens.

Alright, that didn’t work. Any other ideas?

Anyone have any idea why this is happening? I tried Podz suggestion, but that didn’t make a difference. I’ve viewed the site (www.tradeandtrack.com) on different browsers, hoping that perhaps it was a browser issue. Any help would be appreciated!

Reupload the image files located in /wp-content/themes/default/images/

There appears to have been a problem with your earlier FTP upload.

Ifelse – I have tried this, and have completely reinstalled WordPress 4 times. I’ve also used a few other themes with the same problem, none of the background images load. Thanks for the tip, but its nothing that simple.

Take a look at this image file. I suspect that what you’ve done is ftp the image files in ASCII mode instead of BINARY mode which has corrupted the files. This is why the text based files such as the PHP files are fine and why you’re having the same problems with images for other themes.

You don’t need to reinstall WP. Just upload the image files again and be sure to set the transfer mode to either AUTO and if that doesn’t work, BINARY.

    this is the message displayed:
The image “http://www.tradeandtrack.com/wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickheader.jpg cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Sorry Moshu, beat you to it:)

Yep, I am old and slow 🙂

<thumbs up> I’ll give that a shot. Sorry if my frustration started bleeding through, but I hate not being able to figure something like this out (especially something with such an easy solution!)

    Thanks!
