Here’s a tweak to include featured images in your RSS feed. This will probably fix your problem if you import to Facebook via RSS.
Sutherland,
Great plugin! Regarding the post above, I have been trying to fix the same issue for two days.
My theme unfortunately puts the featured image right above the video in my post (no good). Which is why I found your plugin to be beneficial.
However, when I hit the scan images button I realized I had the automatically make video thumbnails featured images option clicked. I went through and deleted the images in my library so they weren’t in each post as the featured image. This also deleted the video thumbnails.
I have deleted and re-activated the video thumbnails plugin three times and every time when I hit scan past posts, nothing happens. Each post says “successful” but then when I go into the post there is no video thumbnail or featured image. I even tried it with both of those options clicked on.
Help!
Thank you!
The Video Thumbnail data is still stored with the posts so it thinks that there’s already a thumbnail. This thread has a modification you can make to clear all of the data stored for video thumbnails.
Thank you, Sutherland! I actually went through and manually reset each video thumbnail. No biggie, I only have 107 posts. 😉
However, my problem is that the reason I downloaded this plugin was so that Facebook might recognize the preview image better. I figured I might have to pair it with another plugin but I have tried many to no avail. Is there anything you can recommend to make Facebook recognize my post title, description (post content summary) as well as (and most importantly) the thumbnail? Right now it just shows a close up of part of the site logo.
I am no programmer, and in all honesty I am unsure of what RSS even means. I use Vimeo and YouTube for posts and just copy the URL in the post to display the video when it is published. Any help would be soooo appreciated.
