• I have a website on Host Monster featuring photography and some writing on historical subjects. People can find my site searching for images – perhaps a half dozen per month. But in about nine months, I’ve got not one hit from anyone searching for topics related to the history I discuss.

    Is this at all strange?

Have you advertised? Have you posted your site URL in relevant, related, locations where self-advertising is permitted? Have you networked with related sites and asked them to link back to you?

Thank you very much for the reply. I have a few links, though I could certainly use some more. But my first question concerns the difference between searches for images and those for text. Why do I get hits for images, but none for the real content of the site? The few links I have concern the textual content, and nothing about images.

Because people happen to be looking for images.
