More Tag On Static Page

    Hi, I’m new to the forums and I’ve checked the documentation on this issue but can’t find a solution that works for me. I’m very raw at coding…
    I look after the website for the school that I teach in.
    Here is my issue.

    I have a static homepage on our site.
    http://www.stfranciscollege-rochestown.ie/
    After the first main paragraph there is a line

    ‘The College is committed to’

    There is loads more text after that but I don’t want it visible, I just want a ‘read on’ or ‘more’ tag here so the rest of the text displays when the visitor clicks on it.

    The more tag on the page editor won’t work.

    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    the ‘more-tag’ does not/cannot work with static pages.

    you could try to use the <!--nextpage--> tag:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Styling_Page-Links
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_link_pages

    and a plugin that gives you a button for the editor:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nextpage-buttons/

    Hi alchymyth.

    Thanks for the response. I used the <!–nextpage–> tag and it worked. Thanks.

    However I’d like to style it neater than just Page 1 2.

    I read the article that you suggested on the http://codex.wordpress.org/Styling_Page-Links link but I don’t know where to put the code

    <?php wp_link_pages(‘before=To read this story, &after=. &next_or_number=next
    &previouspagelink=you can go back to the previous page
    &nextpagelink= or you can read on to the next page’); ?>

    Should I put it somewhere in the stylesheet or in the html section of the page editor itself – I actually tried that one and no effect.

    you will find the code already in content-page.php of your theme:

    <?php wp_link_pages( array( 'before' => '<div class="clear"></div><div class="page-link"><span>' . __( 'Pages:', 'wplook' ) . '</span>', 'after' => '</div>' ) ); ?>

    edit it there.

    Thanks for the super fast reply. Yep I found the relevant section in the content-page.php.

    I fiddled around with it and hey presto – it worked.

    I must make it a bit neater now.
