adjusting main content area

hi, i have altered something within my page and now need help fixing. Somehow I have made the main content area too wide it is too many pixels wide i guess. the problem is that the bottom border is a little short on the left side. i believe the whole content area should be shortened so it will connect and also so there will be no white area at the top where the header is going either.
