Newbie installation question

    I have WordPress installed on my server. The blog isn’t yet live though.

    The placeholder shows up.

    I’ve been working on my blog for the past few days though WordPress itself. Its ready for prime time. I guess what I have to do is replace the place holder index file with the wordpress index file. I don’t know how to do this.

    WordPress itself was installed by my server people.I made several attempts before to install wordpress myself, so I don’t know which files are which.

    I use Ubuntu linux. My FTP client is Filezilla. I can access the files on the server but I can’t open them to change them or see what they are.

    I guess I have to replace the placeholder index page with the WP index page of the one I am using. Not sure how to do this.

    I’m a newbie.

    I’ve been bombarding the server co, with zilions of questions, I’m afraid to ask them again.

    do you know where wordpress is installed in root or a folder
    if in root do you see index.html and index.php

    I actually do not know if it is in root or directory.

    Looks like you have wordpress folder with all wordpress files and folders but where is folder is question as normally if I go to http://www.onlyoneglobemusic.com/wordpress I should see your wordpress.
    Gives me not found

    http://www.onlyoneglobemusic.com/wordpress should be showing up. It showed up this morning and I put a lot of work into it the past few days. I looked at the files though my FTP client. I may have changed something, its not showing up now.

    I don’t know what happened to that folder. I can see it though the FTP client

    and

    also appear on the FTP.

    the wordpress folder needs to be in root who is your host is it a cpanel or some other panel

    I think I am starting to figure this out.The wordpress folder is in root, I think.I disabled the placeholder index file.

    My blog shows up in wordpress now.

    Looks like you still have permission problem on root so check with your host and see if they can correct the problem was fine when you had the place holder did you make any change.

    Once you have the domain working and you want wordpress to open with your domain name you can follow instructions here
