    Hey guys,

I had to choose an alternate WordPress name because my desired name is already taken but the guy literally has one post from years ago and it looks like there’s zero activity.

I was wondering if there was a way to obtain the rights to a WordPress name/account if it hasn’t been used in years.

Possible? YES / NO (circle one)

Sorry, I’m pretty dorktarded! Anyway, I’d really appreciate any responses… even if they’re tennis-related. Wait, what? I don’t even play tennis. 😐

  • Very unlikely, it’s pretty much a first come first serve basis and I imagine would require a huge amount of support to begin maintaining once you open the floodgate for it.

Just because they haven’t posted in a long time doesn’t mean they won’t ever return.

IMO Your only hope is if they one day decide to prune accounts that a match a specific criteria but don’t get your hopes up.

    Answer: No.

WordPress.org accounts are never deleted, or turned over.

    Thanks for the replies, guys!

I’ll go ahead and work on the account I had to create as an alternative.

    Have a great week. 😀
