please create a child theme to work with http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes – it is not recommended to edit the default theme Twenty Eleven directly, as the unedited theme is needed in case of problems.

some image resizing is part of the css of the theme.
2) My sidebar does not show up when I enter content into any of my pages
this is default behaviour in Twenty Eleven.

I insert the images at Large size. They then appear much smaller and do not allow me to upscale. It is every image on every page of the site.
Where do I change the theme to make the sidebar active?
Can you please post a link to a page that demonstrates this problem?
