Latest WordPress inserts unnecessary JavaScript

I would have asked on another identical post, but WordPress.org seems to close topics before they are finished.

Basically I am seeing a slow down in site performance since the last update I did. I found this topic and followed the instructions on the 2nd link below and saw vast speed improvement, but I am wondering what issues this might cause or what might break?
