Calling latest posts to HTML page without using RSS

Hi There,

Im very new to wordpress so please forgive me if im asking something thats impossible, ive read the forums for the past few hours and i really cant find a solution that works.

what i have is a standard HTML page where i have a DIV that i would like to be able to pull the last say 5 posts from my wordpress site.

if this cant be done the other solution would be to embed the whole site into something like an iframe however ive been told that by doing this search engines wont be able to read it and therefore will be no benefit in an SEO way.

Any advice i could be give would be great. thanks
