Problems replacing Joomla with WordPress

    I am having problems replacing Joomla with WordPress to run my site.

    I installed Joomla in the root directory, half built a site but then decided to use WordPress instead (I found it far easier to use!). I installed WordPress in a subdirectory (/wordpress) and have built a site that I would now like to use.

    Going to mydomain.com/wordpress starts up the WordPress site, and going to mydomain.com starts up the Joomla site.

    I’m not bothered about moving the WordPress files, but I would like to know how to get the WordPress site to load when you I to mydomain.com.

    I’ve tried changing the Site Address URL in General>Settings, but this hasn’t had any effect. I’ve had a look at http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory but I’m not sure which guidance fits my situation.
