Ok, I’ve got a web host who allows the one click script install of WP, through Fantastico. While convenient, it means I have to wait until they test everything out on a new release and that can put me way behind…So what I would like to do is keep the same MySQL database, but yet tear away their WP install and do a manual install of WP….anyone got any suggestions on whether or not I should try? Anyone else done this before? I searched but couldn’t find anything.

    Thanks.

  • Once you’ve got a one-click install, you should be able to upgrade it just like any other installation. Simply upload the new files to your WordPress site, and run upgrade.php.

was a little hesitant at first about upgrading since, but since it’s been so long and fantastico hasn’t yet updated theirs to 1.5.2 I did it myself, and ofcourse it went off without a hitch….followed the codex and since i was upgrading from 1.5.1.3 didn’t have to run the upgrade or install php files…but so far so good…thanks again
