Is there a way to enable sidebars to show up on posts? I’ve looked everywhere and I can’t seem to figure it out. I’m not afraid of digging into the html/css/php if someone can send me down the right track.

Have you added any widgets to the primary or secondary widget area?

Both are empty per default so the sidebars won’t show until you add your widgets.
