• Hello,

I am trying to upload a theme called Alvero. It is a theme I purchased from another site. It has a few subfolders, including plug-ins.

The instructions tell me to upload my entire theme folder to my WordPress Installation. I understand that I need to have a folder called wp-content/themes/alvero but I’m not sure what my host username and password should be. I normally use my http://ftp.sfu.ca to upload to my unversity file directory. How do I upload to a wordpress directory?

If my website name is http://www.tinknewman.com and my personal login is admin, and wordpress login is tinknewman, what do I put for my host and username?

Once I DO connect my Filezilla with wordpress and create some folders with the wordpress directories, do the plugins show up directly on wordpress to activate, once they are in the directory?

    Thank you,

    Tink Newman

  • WordPress, once installed, will create the wp-content/themes folder for you. All you need to do is drag-and-drop your unzipped alvero folder to that location and active the theme on Themes admin. panel on your WP site.

For the plug-ins, you’ll find a another folder inside wp-content called plug-ins, the same place your themes folder there. Activate them on the Plugins panel in WordPress.

For your FTP info, you’ll want to contact your university systems administration.
