• hello,
I have tried on numerous occasions to try to in stall wordpress but each have been unsuccessful and resulted in different error messages each time or database connection problems.
The current one that is being displayed is:
The requested URL /wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I am using hosting through native space and used file villa to attempt to upload the WordPress files (after changing the values in the config.php doc) but all of which have been wrong again. Does anyone know what i am supposed to do next as i have tried to delete the files and re install them in an attempt to start a fresh? oh and if it makes a different i am on osx lion.

Thank you for your time as i have looked everywhere for this problem 🙂
    Daniel

  • Can you provide us a URL to your website. You need to use FileZilla to upload the files. If you’re seeing a 404 file not found error, you are not visiting the correct location. If you get a database error, that we can help you with, as you have to configure your wp-config file correctly to connect to the database you set up. I hope this helps!

Thankyou for the very quick response the url is:
    http://danielleverton.org/blog/wp-admin/install.php

I have used the file zilla programme to upload my files into the public html file with a sub folder inside named: Blog connected with mysql on cpanel. The wp-config file was used and i changed each of the user individual/defined settings as given in the instructions. i have tried this a few times and still cant find the problem, even recreating the setup database and re downloading a new version of worpress to attempt a complete restart.

    Many thanks

It looks like you uploaded the files to a folder called “wordpress”

    http://danielleverton.org/wordpress/

You’re getting a database error, so now you need to take a look at the wp-config file in that folder to find out why it is not connecting.

thank you so much for your help, i have now solved the problem and started with the removal of all files that i had previously uploaded to cpanel, after this i ended up re downloading the wordpress file to have a fresh start. The simple problem was that i was using word document for the configuration of the wp-config.php file. After using a text editor installed on the mac it has worked successfully.

Thank you for your help again,
    Daniel

No worries! I’m glad you resolved the issue and let us know. That’s what the community is here for!
