• Hi I’ve been searching and playing around with this for the last five hours now and can’t seem to get it to work. After uploading all my files and then trying to run the install.php I get the following error message “Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress.” I’ve gone in and manually created my wp-config.php but the install still won’t go through. I’ve double and triple checked the MySQL info. Please let me know what I might be missing, thanks.

My host is 1and1 on linux, my MySQL is 5.0, PHP should be version 5.3.5

  • I think clear your account and upload again. Have you tried using their auto installer or they do not have?

You need to make sure you have the .so reference for MySQL in the php.ini file on the server. The issue is with the server configuration, not with WordPress. If you’re unsure of how to work with extensions, you may want to contact your host.
