WP-LondonCity modify excerpt

Hey everyone,

I’m creating a website for an organization I’m with and having trouble trying to edit the_excerpt() function. I’m pretty new but comfortable enough with troubleshooting on my own, but just can’t seem to find the right solution anywhere online. The only plugins I currently have activated is Third Party Host Fix.

I’m using the WP-LondonCity theme. It features a slideshow on the main page that inserts an excerpt underneath the featured image ending in […]. I’d like to reduce the length of the excerpt and insert a “Read More” link instead of the […].
