Where are you putting your widgets?
The widgets you are seeing (if over in the right sidebar) should be placeholders. If you put new widgets in the Main Sidebar, they should go away, and your new widgets should show.
Unless you are using the showcase template for your front page, then that would be the sidebar

Hi, Thanks. I am trying to put them on the right and in the given side bars. I have tried various ones in various side/footer bars and none of them seem to appear. The only was out of it at this moment in time is I have made my front page as a page and not a post. No widgets appear on any of the pages!

Hi, sorry my mistake. I added a test text widget and as you mentioned it appeared and the other went away. However, I can’t seem to add a RSS one in there and have left the front page as Page rather than post for now.
Let me know or any other ideas.
By the way I am using the main side bar and have tried it in others. Seem to be the RSS that not showing at all.
Ah, that’s different. BY default in 2011, single post views, and pages do not show sidebars.
To add one back in, go to pages->all pages
Find the page you want to add a sidebar to, and click quick edit
Select sidebar template from the template dropdown, and save it.
You can also assign templates from the edit page view, over on the right
Also, if you are using the default RSS widget, that is for displaying RSS feed from another site. Have you configured it properly by adding in a feed URL? If not, it would probably come up blank
