most probably it because you might have missed a step or two.. if you follow his instructions perfectly there will be no errors… just double check that you have followed all the instructions correctly.. I imported all my posts and comments from blogger perfectly using his script.
Thanks. But I know I didn’t skip any steps. In fact, I’ve done it five or six times just to be sure. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed WordPress. I’ve deleted the new Blogger archives and rebuilt them. Anyone have a clue? Seen this before?
The same happens to me. I totally went by the instructions, the files are all there, the posts start with the <wordpresspost> tag, but the “explode” command in import_blogger.php doesn’t seem to work. Is there an example somewhere of how the contents of the “yyyy_mm_dd_wordpress.php” has to look or how it needs to be structured??? I searched EVERYWHERE but couldn’t find an example. I am working on this import for 2 days now…. š
I had an old abandoned blogger blog – now I just went by the instructions and imported everything without any problem.
thanks for the reply, moshu.
Unfortunately it doesn’t help me much, I always end up with
“0 post(s) parsed, 0 skipped… 0 comment(s) parsed, 0 skipped… Done”
I would really appreciate if someone could find the time and help me out.
The archive files are here:
http://detectovision.com//drdetecto/wordpress/2005_09_01_wordpress.php
there’s also one for Oct. and Dec.
The import script is here:
http://detectovision.com/wordpress/wp-admin/import-blogger.php
It would make my Christmas if I could get this done soon.
gracias
The archive files are here:
http://detectovision.com//drdetecto/wordpress/2005_09_01_wordpress.php
Now that might be a problem… see the double slah [//] between com and drdetector
sorry moshu, the correct location is:
http://detectovision.com/wordpress/2005_09_01_wordpress.php
just a typo in my post, I apologize. Nevertheless, the problem is still there š
There is something definitely wrong with that file:
– I can see a blogger header
– it’s not formatted as it should be
– it crashed my FF š
Which means you screwed up something in the importing process or when changing the settings in Blogger (many ppl fail on that part).
The latest WP (version 2.0 beta) has a VERY nice blogger import tool. Couple of lines of info and the import is in.
It is how I would import if I were having problems.
BUT
It IS still in beta so it may have a few interesting ‘features’ along the way.
Either way, do not lose the blogger account until the wp side of things works as you need.
Hi moshu,
ok, I did the whole export again. I turned the blogger header off. I don’t know how it should be formatted because I have not seen an example of a correct file anywhere. And I don’t know what an FF is š
still clueless
btw, same results:
* 2005/09 … 0 post(s) parsed, 0 skipped… 0 comment(s) parsed, 0 skipped… Done
* 2005/10 … 0 post(s) parsed, 0 skipped… 0 comment(s) parsed, 0 skipped… Done
* 2005/11 … 0 post(s) parsed, 0 skipped… 0 comment(s) parsed, 0 skipped… Done
* 2005/12 … 0 post(s) parsed, 0 skipped… 0 comment(s) parsed, 0 skipped… Done
Still not what it should be. Did you replace the blogger template with the code BOTH for the blog and archives in the blogger admin? Did you modify the date format as requested?
drop me a mail I’ll give you the link where my test import is to see the correct file format
FF = FireFox
yes, I replaced the blogger template with the one line provided, starting with <Blogger><wordpresspost><$BlogItemDateTime$>|||…etc.
There is no option for archive templates at Blogger anymore, as far as I know, therefore no modification possible.
The date format was changed as requested.
Where do I send my mail?
Btw, I still run the old blogger blog from my root directory on the ftp server (GoDaddy.com). WordPress is in a sub-dir. Hope that’s not a problem.
gracias to Canada
problem still not solved š
Where do I send my mail?
Did you try to click on my name > contact? š
