No RSS feed going on
-
I used to get a rss feed, but now I don’t. I have searched through all the feed problem threads but most are over my head in details.
Please look at my site and see what I can do to activate the feeds.. and use laymans terms. thanks.

Looks fine to me: http://www.metnal.com/julie/wp-rss2.php
I’m confused then. I can’t get Bloglines to read my rrs, and many of my friends say they can’t get it either. I put my site into bloglines as if I were subscribing to it, and it says “No feeds were found. Please verify that the website publishes an RSS feed.”
I’m not quite sure why we can’t get the feed to show up.
You’re running into an old WP v1.5 bug. Even though we can view the feed in our browsers, the server actually returns an error 404 (File Not Found). Is there any chance that you could upgrade to v1.5.1.3? Just follow either the “Overview” or “Detailed Instructions” here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress#Upgrade_Instructions
I’m already running 1.5.1.3 at http://aphs.co.uk/test/wordpress/ and am getting the same problem.
I’ve looked at the old bugs but downloaded the header file at http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress/trunk/wp-blog-header.php (as recommended in http://wordpress.org/support/topic/24280#post-137101 ) and it then fell over with undefined function.
I replaced the original file, remmed out the check as per http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/903 but I still get 404 on my feedshelsby: You don’t have an RSS feed link on your page other than the feedburner link and this one:
http://127.0.0.1:2604/subscribe?url=http://www.absoblogginlutely.net/index.rdfOne problem with that is that a 127.0.0.1 IP address is, I believe, part of the private or reserved block of IP addresses that won’t transmit data over the internet. The other problem is that that rdf file isn’t a valid RSS feed, it’s some kind of screwed up mess.
julie, Bloglines picked the feed up fine for me. Maybe you just got it fixed or maybe it was a temporary problem with bloglines. Hopefully you upgraded to 1.5.1.3 and avoided the nasty security problems with 1.5.
Yep, we just upgraded yesterday and it fixed all the problems. Thanks for the help.
Scratch that. The private IP addresses are in the 172s not the 127s. My guess would be that whatever site is at that 127.0.0.1 address is probably dead, since it sure looks that way.
tomhanna: Actually you are looking at the wrong site!
If you look at my wordpress site at http://aphs.co.uk/test/wordpress/ and not my MT site (which contains the 127.0.0.1 links and feedburner) then you will see the problem.
the 127 links are for subscribing to the feed with radio (which would run on your own local machine.) and the rdf does look ok to me, but again, thats a redherring as that was on the wrong machine.Mine seems to be broken too, several people who subscribe to my blog with rss are telling me they no longer get my feed. I am running 1.5.3 and just can’t understand why.
Port17, your feed is fine and perfectly valid. What are these “several people” using to subscribe to your feed?
http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.port7.co.uk%2Ffeed%2F
I think its only the rss2 feed that is stuffed. The rss1 feed works but doesn’t sort it date order.
The people who subscribe are planet #lugradio and me! via planet-manlug (www.port7.co.uk/planet-manlug/) both use the Planet feed agregator.
At http://www.port7.co.uk/planet-manlug/ I can see your most recent post, “Stuff”, listed at the top. I still see nothing wrong here.
What is strange though that it has put all my recent posts that i posted on different days as being posted at the same time and date (31 July).
I do realise though that the fault might lie with the planet scripts…
I have investigated your feed at http://www.port7.co.uk/feed/ and it appears to be in perfect condition. All of the posts have the proper date, they appear in the proper order in both my browser and RSS reader, and your feed is still perfectly valid. I’d have to say that this must be a problem with the planet scripts.
hmmm – so no takers on my problem then?
