media/gallery problem – unable to insert/delete images

    so, I’ve just upgraded wordpress on my photography site

    and, while I was unable to upload media within a post in the last couple of months (by clicking add media it wouldn’t open in a new window but in the same, and when the “insert into post” would be clicked, nothing would happen), “add media” now appears to be working (it opens in a new window). HOWEVER, I can’t insert the images I upload into my post, as the “show” link, when clicked in the gallery, does not make anything happen). obviously in the same way I am unable to delete those images.

    I have upgraded MANUALLY, have checked that my browsers are up-to-date (chrome & firefox) and also tried editing from both, my flash also appear up-to-date, I have cleared my cache, and done everything I could think of. I am using the theme AutoFocus with Cleaner Gallery (&external jQuery Lightbox plugin)

    can anyone help me? this is driving me really crazy….

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    alice, can you go directly to the media gallery itself to delete the images? (check the boxes and choose delete) I WAS able to do that much

    @prfctgdess: It is considered impolite to interrupt another poster’s thread. Additionally, yours is not the same issue. Please stick to your own topic.

    @prfctgdess: yes, however I can’t go past that.

    @esmi: thank you for the quick reply. I have tried all of the above and none seems to work. it doesn’t get fixed by deactivating all the plugins&resetting the folder, by switching to the basic theme, or by re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders as you have suggested…
    I have also failed to mention that the Flash uploader doesn’t show me a field to click on to upload files – so maybe it is a flash-related problem?

    however my other blog, on the same server (alicetragedy.org) and also 3.5.1, doesn’t have that issue…

    I’m working around the problem for now by clicking “All Tabs: Show” in the gallery panel (as this seems to work, how did I not think about it before..) – it seems like the “collapsing” menus are the problem… but I really don’t know what else I could try to ultimately fix this.
